Katherine Mansfield é o pseudônimo de Kathleen Mansfield Beauchamp, nascida em 1888, em Wellington, capital da então colônia britânica da Nova Zelandia.
Filha de um banqueiro, morou em Londres em dois momentos, no primeiro ainda jovem, para concluir os estudos, e depois, quando adulta, para viver sua bissexualidade de forma livre.
Teve uma vida intensa e fazia questão de se contrapor ao modelo machista da época.
Casou-se, separou-se, engravidou de um amigo, mas perdeu o bebê.
Anos mais tarde, sua saúde ficou muito debilitada por causa de uma tuberculose.
Em 1922, mudou-se para França, onde faleceu aos 34 anos. |
