When she arrives, she instantly forms a lovely bond with Truffle, a small dog who has been taken in by her Aunt and Uncle. Jenny learns that she has to be helpful on this busy farm and soon discovers that she enjoys having responsibility for the hens, as well as baking and running errands. There are two other dogs on the farm, Harry, who is a very elderly lurcher, and Ryker, her Uncle's dog who follows him everywhere. Her Aunt and Uncle are very welcoming, but Jenny still misses her Mum and needs another child to explore the farm with her. Everything is quite ordinary until Maggie arrives, and then mysterious things start to happen.
